Native Resistance, organized by Byron Rangiwai (PhD candidate, Te Ara Poutama, AUT University) moves through different phases and types of Māori and ‘Native’ resistance: from nineteenth century Māori prophetic movements, to the issues and politics of Māori language and culture, to activism and challenges to sovereignty, and the politics of resistance embedded in Indigenous struggles for self-determination.
