She is also a spoken word performer and sound artist who performs with Pauline Oliveros and other artists in the United States and Internationally. Ione is the Director of the Ministry of Maåt, Inc., an organization specializing in women and community, with goals of world harmony and balance.

Deep Listening Workshops

Deep Listening workshops are offered by the original founding instructors Pauline Oliveros, Heloise Gold, and Ione, and by Deep Listening Certificate holders.

Deep Listening is a process created by Pauline Oliveros that is informed by expanding the range of audible forms beyond ordinary sound perceptions in daily life.

The workshops may be organized for small groups in an intimate setting, or for larger groups. Two hundred or more people can be accommodated depending on the facilities available. The duration of a workshop is flexible and negotiable. Workshops can be scheduled on a one-time basis or on an ongoing weekly or monthly basis.

Workshops include an Introduction to Deep Listening with history, theory and practice. Practices include energy exercises, listening exercises and movement exercises as outlined in Deep Listening: A Composer’s Sound Practice by Pauline Oliveros, UNIVERSE 2005.

Processes and the experience of the practices are discussed during the workshops with partners or small groups as well as with the group as a whole. Sonic Meditations and Deep Listening Pieces by Pauline Oliveros as well as scores by certificate holders and other composers of participatory pieces are performed and discussed.
